When the trust is there…
Cisco's 2018 Partner Summit was a great success, hosting 7,000 employees and partners at Mandalay Bay. It demonstrated how successful an event can be when there is trust between the client and the event marketing team. In this project, the design team consisted of only the creative director and myself. As a result, I was able to take on more responsibility and perform as a senior designer.
In this project, I designed the floor plan of the event space within the large ballroom at Mandalay Bay. The layout included client booths, partner booths, conversation pods, lounges, coffee bar, and places to hold a range of groups. Our aesthetic stemmed from the coffee bar in the center of the room. The entire space was to feel like a large coffee shop where attendees felt comfortable sitting down to have a quiet conversation or catch up with colleagues. The plan came together quickly followed by sourcing high touch furniture rentals that aligned with our mood boards and the level of quality expected at partner events. I re-rendered full material renderings of the evolving design to present to stakeholders on a weekly basis. (Not shown)
Above the central coffee bar hung a massive 3D printed sculpture called WeaveOne, designed and built with Branch Technology. The form is a three-dimensional interpretation of the vizID for Partner Summit 2018. The sculpture acted at a beacon and talking piece among guests.
Surrounding the central coffee bar sat a handful of “Library Lounges”. These seating arrangements were designed to allow teams to huddle in an otherwise open room. The low bookshelves were filled with stimulating tchotchkes and well-reviewed books about business, travel, and psychology. The furniture for these lounges, were high-quality rentals that promoted leaning in to have a conversation.
